Family and Divorce Mediation:

My practice is focused solely on mediation. Mediation is a process by which both parties (spouses or parents) meet with me as an independent, neutral, third party, and, with my assistance, create an agreement to either end their marriage and/or create a parenting plan.

Benefits of Mediation:

Mediation is a growing trend among couples seeking to end their marriage. The benefits of mediation are numerous, but the most noticeable is the cost. In the United States, the average cost of a litigated divorce is approximately $40,000 and can take up to two years. Mediation provides a far more affordable alternative as the average cost is under $4,000, and usually can be completed in under six months.

My Practice:

Generally, I encourage my clients to use my service before separating, but my service is available to any person, at any stage of the divorce or separation process. During the mediation process, I act as an independent, neutral-third party, and guide couples through a series of mediated negotiations to effectively dissolve their marriage. Mediated issues include child custody, asset distribution, parenting plans, spousal maintenance, other issues associated with the dissolution of marriage, or issues which arise after the marriage has already been dissolved.

About Me:

I graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law as a Law Honors Scholar on a full ride academic scholarship. My goal has always been to help families and started my career in the legal field as a Judicial Law Clerk for a family law judge in Jackson County, IL. Working as a clerk gave me the unique perspective of witnessing how damaging a contested divorce can be on both people's children and their assets. I ultimately decided to pursue a career in family mediation and have since completed 60 hours of mediation training, 20 hours specifically dedicated to child custody mediation. Currently, I sit on the Spokane, Yakima, Douglas, Whitman, and Asotin counties' court mediator rosters. As part of my practice, I handle a wide range of case types including parenting plans for unwed couples, asset distribution, remote mediation, and more. It is my goal to help families resolve their disputes as amicably as possible while avoiding litigation and the high costs associated with trial. As a former bank financial advisor, a great deal of my practice is focused on asset distribution and financial planning in divorce.
